Booking Parent – Teacher Interviews
We are pleased to announce that Ascension of Our Lord has moved to the Internet to schedule Parent-Teacher Interviews. The system is called Ascension of Our Lord Conference Manager. This system will simplify how you book your interviews and will be much more convenient than calling in. Booking your conference is as easy as following the three step process. Junior High parents, please note the information regarding D2L information sessions at the bottom of this page.
The process for booking interviews is broken into the following steps:
Step 1 – Pre-Register at http://ascension.schoolsoft.ca
The Registration page is available to parents anytime. Your login credentials (email and password) will remain in the system to make it easy to access the Conference Manager in the future.
Please note that in order to enhance functionality and security, the Conference Manager requires you to use Internet Explorer 7 (or above), Firefox 3 (or above) or Safari 4 (or above). If you are using an older browser, the Conference Manager will automatically prompt you to update your browser and provide you with a link. This is a one-time process and only takes a couple of minutes.
Step 2 – Conference Manager Opens to Parents –
You can access the Parent Login Page using the link in the Confirmation Email. If you do not receive a Confirmation Email, you can login by going directly to http://ascension.schoolsoft.ca
Step 3 – Book your Parent-Teacher interviews
Select the teachers with whom you want to book interviews. You will see each teacher’s schedule. After booking your appointments you can print off your schedule. You will also receive an email containing the teacher name, time and location of the conference. You can log into the system at any time to view your bookings, print, cancel or re-schedule appointments. You have the option of submitting comments or questions to the teacher as part of the booking process.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please feel free to contact the school 403 500 2075.
To all Junior High parents,
You can also visit the following site for an introductory YouTube video for parents and students prepared by one of our district teachers: http://bit.ly/iNHJQV. D2L will be available at the beginning of October.
D2L Background Information
Desire2Learn, also known as D2L, is an online application used in junior and senior high classes in the Calgary Catholic School District. Teachers are posting news items, course content and assignments. Students may be using many tools in D2L including the dropbox to submit assignments, and the grades tool to check on their grades and receive personalized feedback regarding their work. Parents are encouraged to access D2L to view detailed information about coursework, using their son or daughter’s login username and password.
Similar to high schools in the district, the D2L grades tool will be used consistently across all junior high schools during the 2011-2012 school year. Junior high school teachers will use the D2L online environment to securely calculate, manage and share assessment with students and parents. This will allow students and parents to review grades continually from home at any time throughout the year.
Teachers will now use a cumulative grading model to generate report card grades for students which will be calculated on a continual basis, always showing the most current reflection of student performance. Report cards will continue to be printed at regular intervals throughout the year with student grades while D2L grades will provide ongoing communication regarding student progress. Please contact Mr. McClernon (principal) or Mrs. Ross (Junior High Alberta Initiative for School Improvement [AISI] teacher) for more information regarding D2L and grading for junior high students.
