DIPLOMA AND FINAL EXAMINATION INFORMATION

FOR PARENTS, STUDENTS,

AND TEACHERS

In order to provide a secure examination environment, Bishop Grandin High School reviews the examination policies at each sitting to ensure exam security and address conditions that would allow for the possibility of cheating that would provide some students with an unfair advantage.  Academic integrity is of primary importance; therefore, every precaution has been taken to allow students to accurately represent their exam performance.

Alberta Education Diploma Exam Security and Examination Rules state that-

“Students may not bring any papers, notes of any kind, headsets, audiocassette/CD players, digital and audio players, cell phones, pagers, or books other than those allowed into the examination room.  No hand-held electronic dictionaries are allowed.  Students must ensure that dictionaries, and references used for Part(ie) A of English Language Arts 30-1, English Language Arts 30-2, French language Arts 30, Social Studies 30 and Social Studies 33, and all calculators are completely free of notes or study material.

Any student in possession of materials not allowed in examination rooms will have his/her mark invalidated.”

In keeping with this directive, any student in the possession of materials not allowed in examination rooms, will be asked to leave the exam room, and will not receive a mark.  Particular attention will be paid to personal, wireless electronic devices such as cell phones.  Please note that Alberta Education does not permit students to rewrite a diploma exam for one year following a mark being invalidated. Transcripts may be withheld for a period up to one year, or their official transcripts may be annotated.

Along with the above listed banned items, coats, jackets, purses, back packs will not be allowed in any of the writing centres.  Please leave these items in school lockers.

Photo ID is essential for diploma exams.  Students will not be allowed to write a diploma exam without this.  School ID, a driver’s license, or a passport is acceptable.
