Current enrolment projections for St. Philip School indicates the need to consider the implementation of a restricted enrolment process in order to ensure that future growth does not exceed the school’s capacity. It is important to note that the implementation of a restricted enrolment process will have no impact on Grade 1- 6 students currently attending the school. Resident (Catholic) Kindergarten students are also not impacted by this process. These restrictions will only apply to future students. Calgary Catholic School District will seek the input and advice of its community at a public participation meeting on Tuesday, March 18, 7 PM at St. Philip School. All parents interested in Fine Arts programming for their child(ren) are invited. (RSVP to St. Philip School: 403-500-2072)
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Blessed Cardinal Newman School and we’re looking forward to seeing you there! The book fair will be hosted in the school library starting Monday March 10th, 2014 through until Friday March 14th.
Our Book Fairs connect students to books they love to read. By supporting the Book Fair you enable our school to obtain wonderful new books for our library.
To help your child find the newest books, he or she will visit the book fair with their class during the school hours. Students will be allowed to purchase books during this time or are welcome to come back with their families on the evening of Thursday March 13th from 5:00 – 8:00pm and during the day on Friday march 14th from 9:00am until 3:00pm.
There will be daily contests and one lucky student will win $50.00 in books – $25.00 for the student and $25.00 for the student’s classroom.
Thank-You for encouraging your child to read and exploring the magic of reading!
In response to concerns raised at City of Calgary Council with regards to traffic safety around school sites and in particular, in this case, Blessed Cardinal Newman School, we
have been selected to participate in a city wide traffic study. The city is funding the study and the support of our school board has been committed. For more information refer to February Newsletter.
Tell us what you think: An online engagement program will be available from January 27th to March 7th, 2014. The program is simple and easy to use and has been set up for you to share what you think are the traffic issues at your school. We hope you will take approximately 10 minutes to participate in the online program and let us know what issues you think need to be addressed. Please provide your input by completing the survey is located at:

Welcome to Parent View!
Parents and students at schools across the district have access to real-time student information including attendance, grades and school bulletins.
The Parent View is operated through PowerSchool, a web-based application that facilitates student information management and communication among school administrators, teachers, parents, and students.
Benefits of the Parent View:
- School administrators, teachers, parents, and students can easily stay connected with each other
- Parents are able to review daily attendance and progress report results
- Parents are able to participate more fully in their student’s progress
Parents/guardians have the ability to create a single login for all students in the family that are attending different schools. Once the account is created, parents can manage account information, link any and all students to the account, and set email and notifications preferences for each student linked to the account. The privacy and security of each student is maintained.
