Register now for the annual “My 1st Ride” Program

May 25-26, 2013

For young elementary students who have never been on a school bus, waiting for a bus on their first day can be an overwhelming experience.

My 1st Ride is being run for the 13th consecutive year and is a free program designed to educate parents and kindergarten children about riding the school bus safely. Kindergarten families are invited to attend either 1st orientation (each orientation session takes about an hour and classes are scheduled every 20 minutes), depending on which location is more convenient. Representatives from both boards and school bus contractors will be in attendance.

Sessions are approximately one hour and the program consists of a 20 minute PowerPoint presentation on bus safety and a special School Bus Safety DVD presentation for the children.  These presentations are followed by a “First Ride” on a bus and conclude with receiving safety handouts, snacks and school board busing information.

“My 1st Ride” Partners include: Calgary Catholic School District, Calgary Board of Education, Southland Transportation, First Student Canada, Prosodie, and Calgary Co-op.

The next sessions are scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at St. Cecilia School (610 Agate Cres. SE) and on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Mount View School (2004 - 4 St NE).

Pre-registration is essential to attend this program, and is on a first come, first served basis. To pre-register call: 403-640-8867.(Registration starts April 15th, 2013). For more information, please click here.
