On November 25, 2009, Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD) launched a process to discuss the consideration for closure of St. Angela School. At the conclusion of that process, CCSD is delighted that St. Angela will remain open and will be transformed into a workplace school.
Over the coming months, CCSD will work collaboratively with the community to create St. Angela Workplace School, taking advantage of the school’s unique downtown location to appeal to suburban parents who work in the city core. The school will still serve the Bridgeland and Crescent Heights communities as it does today, maintaining its community school spirit, but will also be made available to families from across Calgary.
The new school will feature access to out of school care, as well as available options for parking, to allow families to travel from communities across Calgary. For more information about a Workplace School, please click here.
The idea for the new workplace school was brought to administration by parents after a public consultation meeting held at St. Angela. CCSD appreciates the participation and energy of parents and other stakeholders who supported creating solutions that meet the needs of the community.
