Transportation

The Calgary Catholic School District is committed to providing a safe, efficient and economical method of transporting eligible students to and from school. More than 20,000 students access transportation in the Calgary Catholic School District. Approximately 48 per cent of the District's students travel on urban and rural routes to schools in Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane and Chestermere.

For general inquiries, please contact the Transportation Department at (403) 500-2458.

For those students who live out of the eligible area and must instead take Calgary Transit, you will now be able to use Google to plot your bus trips. The City of Calgary has announced a partnership with Google Transit, which allows customers to use Google Maps for trip-planning, with the ability to access detailed bus routes, schedules, transfers and area walking maps. To access this feature, click here and then click on the "Get Directions" link.

Currently, some CCSD elementary schools are having problems with school buses being late for a number of days in a row, and up to several weeks at a time. CCSD contracts out elementary school charter bus services to three companies.

My 1st Ride
For young elementary students who have never been on a school bus, waiting for a bus on their first day can be an overwhelming experience.
My 1st Ride is a free program designed to educate parents and kindergarten children about riding the school bus safely. Public and Catholic kindergarten families are invited to attend.

Sessions consist of a 20 minute PowerPoint presentation on bus safety and a special School Bus Safety DVD presentation for the children.  These presentations are followed by a “First Ride” on a bus and conclude with receiving safety handouts, snacks and school board busing information.

The next sessions are scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at St. Cecilia School (610 Agate Cres. SE) and on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at Mount View School (2004 - 4 St NE).

Pre-registration is essential to attend this program, and is on a first come, first served basis. To pre-register call: 403-640-8867.(Registration starts April 15th, 2013). For more information, please click here.

The My 1st Ride program is made possible through the generous support of Calgary Co-op food stores. Click here to watch a PowerPoint presentation about the My 1st Ride program and school bus safety.
