Calgary Catholic selected as a 2012 Promising Practices award winner

Jun. 11, 2012

Each year, as part of the National Schools of Character (NSOC) program, the Character Education Partnerships (CEP) recognizes those educators in the United States and across the word who have implemented unique, specific, and effective character education strategies.

Schools and districts with practices that are selected are honored at the annual Promising Practices ceremony at CEP's National Forum on Character Education. Winning practices were selected from a record-breaking 537 applications.

For 2012, Calgary Catholic is proud to recognize the efforts of our Religious Education team who implemented the "Safe & Caring Schools in the 21st Century" initiative which was chosen as a Promising Practices award winner.  Safe & Caring Schools in the 21st Century is part of the Everyone Belongs AISI project and includes the Kids in the Know program, student conferences (including this year's Digital Citizenship symposium), various school-based initiatives, the senior high Cyber Ethics resource, and AISI conference presentations.

In recognition of our award-winning practice, CEP will:

•         Present our award at the 19th National Forum on Character Education to be held November 1-4, 2012 in Washington, DC at the Renaissance Hotel

•         List our practice in CEP's annual NSOC publication and feature our practice in CEP's searchable database of winning practices at www.character.org .
