Christ the King School wins Healthy School Communities Award for Alberta

Jul. 6, 2012

The Healthy School Community Award is an Alberta-wide initiative that celebrates the partners in school communities that support the health of children and youth by promoting and preventing disease and reducing barriers to healthy choices.

It recognizes the initiatives that have been implemented in schools to help make the school and community a healthier place.

At Christ the King we have created a Physically, Healthy, Active, Today Team that is in charge of promoting healthy living within our school community. We organize activities for all students, kindergarten to grade 9, that encourage active living, healthy eating, and spiritual well-being.

To facilitate healthy living at home, we provide tips and recipes in our monthly  school and community newsletter.  As a team, we have changed our concession menu, organized health fairs, planned an emotional pep rally, and organized physical challenges for the students to participate in.
