District named as one of Canada's Safest Employers for 2012

The Calgary Catholic School District is proud to announce that we have received the distinction of being one of Canada's Safest Employers for 2012.

The awards, sponsored by Canadian Occupational Safety magazine, were handed out to a total of 13 Canadian organizations who were recognized for their outstanding achievements in promoting workplace health and safety.

Winners were chosen from five categories: building and construction; manufacturing; mining and natural resources; services; and, transportation and utilities. The Calgary Catholic School District was a silver recipient in the service category.

To be eligible to be considered for Canada’s Safest Employers Award, nominees must meet ALL of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Open to all Canadian employers. Must be an employer in Canada for the last five years or more;
  • Must have NOT incurred any serious injuries or fatalities, which resulted in investigation and subsequent charges under the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and/or the Criminal Code, in the last five years;
  • Must have NOT been convicted of any charge under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and/or the Criminal Code, in the last five years
