Bachelor of Education Degree at Ambrose University College
Ambrose University College has received approval to offer a fully accredited Bachelor of Education (After Degree) in Elementary School Education in Alberta. We believe that we have designed a degree to surpass expectations for certification of teachers to work in Alberta’s schools. The program prepares teachers to teach in highly diverse classrooms, made up learners with special needs and from varying cultural backgrounds. The program is designed to adhere closely to Alberta Education’s Setting the Direction policy. In addition, the program includes an informal mentorship program, an opportunity to do a paid internship after graduation, and collaboration with local school districts. We have a generous scholarship program as well.  If you have thought about teaching as a career please and would like more information about the program please contact Dr. Bernie Potvin, Associate Professor and Chair, Education at bpotvin@ambrose.edu or by phone at 403 410 2000 ext 5912, or go directly to our website (Ambrose University College).  Once at our site you can go to Future Education Students for information regarding the goals of our program and how to apply for this September.  Spaces are limited.  Apply now.

Footprints to Your Future: A Grade 9 Guide to High School provides information and valuable tools to help students decide which courses to select based on what topics interest the student and what school subjects and careers might suit their goals. The booklet describes the types of high school courses and programs offered by high schools within the Calgary Catholic School District. It outlines the courses that are available and what doors these choices will open or close as these choices can have a significant influence on possible post-secondary options and career choices.

School Resource Officers
The Calgary Police Service, in partnership with the Calgary Board of Education and the Calgary Catholic School District, have 21 School Resource Officers (SROs) who work in junior and senior high schools. They help create a safe and healthy learning environment for our youth. As mentors and role models to the students, they are available to help teens with everyday problems they may face, such as peer pressure, drugs, bullying, youth gangs and property crimes. Sometimes just talking with an officer can help resolve a situation before it becomes a serious problem. If you would like to talk with a School Resource Officer, call 403-206-8349 or ask your school principal for more information.
