African Drumming at Holy Spirit!

David Thiaw Artist-in-residence Program at Holy Spirit School

We were very fortunate to have a special guest in our school for the last week of January. David Thiaw – a world-class African drummer – joined us for a week-long artist-in-residence program and performance. Mr. Thiaw is a native of Senegal, West Africa, and has gained an international reputation for working with musicians, choirs, dance and theatre companies. He brings with him a wealth of experience in bringing the music and culture of Africa to students of all ages. Mr. Thiaw’s natural warmth and welcoming spirit were a great addition to Holy Spirit School and the students have left the experience with a better understanding of world cultures, music, language, and how to play the djembe. All in all, it was a week to be remembered at Holy Spirit!
