Junior High Band
The philosophy of band is “One Sound”.
As ensemble musicians we work collaboratively to create one sound. No musician’s part is more or less important than another’s. It is essential that exceptional players assist weaker players. There is no place for ego in the ensemble. We are the largest team in the school. Together, we will make a sound greater than the sum of its parts. Together we will make one sound.

Grade 7-9 Band Practice Sheets-
Success in band class relies not only on classroom instruction, but also practice time at home. As a member of Ascension of Our Lord Beginner and Junior Bands, you are expected to spend time outside of class practicing your instrument.
Each chart contains 15 squares that require 15 minutes of practice each day, which amounts to 225 minutes per month. On these charts, please write the date that you completed your practice. Please do not lump 225 minutes of practice into only a few days during the month, as it is more beneficial to skill development to practice every day (or every few days, depending on your schedule).
Practice charts will be due each month (October through May), at the end of every month. Charts more than one week late will not be accepted for a grade. Charts MUST be signed by a parent/guardian, and student names must be legible.
Remember- correct practice includes working on the musical aspects of playing your instrument, and DOES NOT include setting up your chair, stand, getting our your music, and putting your instrument together!
Please support and encourage your child with practicing as practicing is 15% of the students’ report card mark.
