ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE

 Students are placed in the appropriate level by their ESL teacher

 Level II (5 credits)

Student demonstrates limited competence in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English.

 Level III (5 credits)

Student demonstrates functional fluency in listening and speaking in English.  Reading and writing skills are below the current grade level.

 Level IV (5 credits)

Student demonstrates skill in listening, speaking, and reading in English close to current grade level.  Writing skills are below current grade level.
