Dear Students and
Parents,
Welcome to the 2009 –
2010 school year at Holy Spirit School.
We are looking forward to a very exciting year filled with a number
of activities to advance student learning.
We are very proud of community feeling in our school and the
connection we have with St. Mary’s Parish.
The school sees three
major influences in the development of our youth:
the home, the parish and the school.
We believe when working together we can provide an excellent
opportunity to help develop our youth into well educated, responsible
citizens. This interrelationship
is based on the principles of mutual respect, open communication, support
and active involvement in the education process.
Our students are very capable and rise to the many challenges they
face.
Should you have any
questions, please contact the school at 403-500-2065.

Holy Spirit Elementary School is a learning organization that empowers
students to reach their full potential, to meet the challenges of life, to
serve their community and to journey in faith with God, through Christ, in
the Spirit.
The Calgary Catholic School District is the largest Catholic school district in Alberta, serving 44,000 students in Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane, Chestermere and the Municipal District of Rocky View. This learning organization educates and empowers students from kindergarten to Grade 12 to reach their full potential, meet life’s challenges, serve their community, and journey in faith.
We, the staff of Holy Spirit School, are a caring and dedicated Catholic Community who strive to make a difference in children's lives. We believe in fostering Christian values, the pursuit of knowledge and the development of the whole child and his or her unique potential within a safe environment.

We will provide opportunities for individual
and team learning for our students and staff, to pursue levels of excellence
by implementing the principles of cooperative learning and team building.
We will organize studies and celebrations
which reflect our Catholic faith and its rich academic tradition. In so
doing, we will encourage the participation of our worshipping community.
We will recognize the uniqueness of each
member of our school community and the need to be accepted and valued by
developing each person's skills and talents as we work, pray and play
together.
We will focus on interaction and evaluation
strategies that will maintain and enhance the quality of teaching and
learning, and promote learning and pride in achievement.
We will implement measures to assess
achievement and growth in order to meet individual needs and strive for
excellence.
We will establish collaborative planning and
effective communication to enhance a holistic approach to problem solving
within our learning organization.
We will strive to create a learning community,
which empowers each person in our school community to problem-solve in a
creative, critical, and flexible manner. This will enhance the development
of confidence, a sense of peace, and the ability to function effectively in
a rapidly changing world.
