Our Philosophy
Success in music is not an innate gift that only a few possess. Through hard work, dedication, teamwork, responsibility and perseverance any student of music can be successful. The correlation between students experiencing success in music and achieving success in other endeavors is well documented.
The Music Program at St. Timothy is dedicated to the philosophy of fostering a lifelong appreciation, dedication and love of music. To this end, the program will offer a wide variety of experiences designed to achieve these goals:
"Theoretical, Technical and Performance lessons"
"Individual, Small and Large group instructions"
"Off campus travel"
"Listening, observing and performing with professional musicians
The success of the music program relies on the ongoing participation of its students and parents. Students and parents are asked to take an active role in the program.
Because there are many occasions in which the music groups at St. Timothy represent our school and community, it is expected that the student “act in a mature and responsible manner.” Students need to keep up to date on their responsibilities to other classes and balance these with their commitment to the music program (e.g. - rehearsals, concerts, off campus trips and private practice at home.)
