Holy Thursday

Holy Thursday Celebration

Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday marks the beginning of the Easter Triduum. Our celebration of the beginning of this holy time will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 17. Come join us!

We at the St. Luke School and the Calgary Catholic School District wish to offer our heartfelt condolences to the families, friends and loved ones of
all those affected by the tragedy that unfolded early Tuesday morning. Our prayers are with you.

Almighty ever-living God, to whom we never pray without hope of your mercy and love, be gracious to us and hear our prayers. Welcome into your loving care the young people whose lives were cut short by violence and embrace them with your mercy and love. Bring peace and consolation to the family and friends of all who mourn their loss and enable them to meet the lonely and painful days ahead in the strength of your love. Continue to bless and strengthen all who work in police and emergency services in our city that they may be sustained in their efforts to build communities of justice and respond quickly to the needs of residents.

Through Christ our Lord.

Have a Blessed Triduum

St. Luke School wishes all our students and families a Blessed Easter weekend.

Parent Math Night II

Parent Math Night II

Conceptual foundations of Multiplication, Division and Fractions – March 18th 6:30 to 8:30 at St. Luke’s in the Library. Please contact jplosz@gmail.com if you are coming to ensure enough materials are prepared.

Research has shown that rote memorization does not develop the necessary foundation for higher level mathematics.  What is the alternative?   If your child is like mine giving them a worksheet at
home for extra practice is not creating a love or understanding for the subject.  What do you do?   Come for a parent only math night at St. Luke’s and I’ll show you at-home activities to develop number sense and flexibility that your child needs to become more fluent in mathematics, with the intention of developing a LOVE for the subject. This will be done through games and building materials that can be found in your home.  These activities will help form images in their minds that will develop the correct foundations for mental math.
