Bienvenue à l’École St. Pius X

École St. Pius X school community warmly welcomes all. We are a smaller school servicing many neighborhoods in the North West. With a Before and After School Care program as well as a full day Enhanced Kindergarten program, you will find a safe and caring school for your child. High academic stadards while learning the French language and culture is the hallmark of our learning community.

Run Walk + Tailgate Breakfast.

The tailgate breakfast will take place on Sunday May 26 in the Sears parking lot starting at 8:00 am. If it is raining, we will gather at the school before heading to the Marathon.

Our little school won $2000.00 for simply being what we are: outstanding. With over 270% participation rate we easily won the prize money for the Scotia Bank Marathon. Fitness is a big part of who we are!

“I’m looking forward to serving you breakfast all you winners!”

Family Carnival: Yet Another Great One

Another May weekend has passed and another Family Carnival is under our belts. Once again our outstanding school community spirit shone as brightly as the sun on May 11. Approximately 600 attended the event this year. There is no other school in Calgary that puts on such an outstanding event. So much fun, laughter and food was enjoyed by all as they took part in the multitude of events and activities.

Family Carnival

The Family Carnival is on May 11th. This is always a highlight of the school year. New Kindergarten and Grade 1 families for the 2013-14 school year are warmly invited to get your first taste of “St. Pius life”. Please contact Kristy Komar if you are able to fill a volunteer shift. Brace yourself for some really fun new additions to this year’s carnival. As always, it is going to be a wonderful day!

New Principal Announced

We are very pleased to welcome Mme Orr to our school family. She is currently the Vice Principal at St. Elizabeth Seton El / Jr. High and comes to us with a wealth of experience in education. She will be introduced at the April 16th School Council Meeting. Prior to M. Scott leaving for his sabbatical in France, Mme Orr and M. Scott will be working very closely together to ensure there is a seamless transition.

Recess Running Club

For the third year “running”,  the Recess Running Club has started. Students are preparing for the 5km and Scotia Bank Kids Marathon on May 26th. Fitness is one hallmark of our school community and our students never fail to disappoint with their dedication to running a kilometer per day for 40 days!

Fine Arts Flourish

Students recently finished with their second learning experience with “The Clay Lady” artist in residence program as well as participating in Les 7 Peurs d’Emillie French drama production. The grade 6 students are working with pastel in art class and have completed beautiful images of Easter and Pentecost which are proudly displayed on the front bullentin board.

Carnaval d’hiver a Wonderful Day

Our annual Carnaval d’hiver started with the tradition Shrove Tuesday Pancake Breakfast. Thank you to our dedicated moms who flipped the flap-jacks so very well! After breakfast the children moved into their Big Family Groups (B.F.G.’s) and worked on activities together. We then went to the gym where the King and Queen of Carnival were crowned and Bonhomme paid a visit.

The afternoon was full of delights as the children played games and activities from spoon playing to limbo dancing. We concluded in the gym with a slide show of the day’s events. How proud we all feel to be a part of this wonderful school community and family. We are now ready for a good Lent.

Third Laptop Lab

The third mobile laptop lab has arrived. It will be set up in very short order. We have reached one of our technology goals by providing all students with unlimited availability to laptop technology. Thank you Education Society for all your efforts supporting quality education at our school.
