Serafino Scarpino

Serafino Scarpino is currently serving his fourth term as a member of the Board of Trustees and represents wards 1, 2 and Cochrane. He worked for the Calgary Catholic School District as a teacher from 1973 until retiring in 2003. Trustee Scarpino has previously served as board chair and vice-chair.

avatarTrustee Scarpino has been active in the church and community for the past four decades. He was recently elected vice-president of the Alberta Catholic School Trustees' Association. He was also the co-founder and principal of the Calgary Italian School and the chair of the Alberta Teachers' Association charities committee. In 1988, he received the Alberta Achievement Award for outstanding contribution to the Winter Olympics. He is active as a eucharistic minister and parish council chair at Mary Mother of the Redeemer. Trustee Scarpino is a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus and is the past president of the Italian Sportsmen's Dinner Association. He is a graduate with a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Calgary and a Masters in Arts from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. Trustee Scarpino is married and has two adult children.
