We are committed to providing a safe, efficient and economical method of transporting eligible students to and from school.
More than 20,000 students access transportation in the Calgary Catholic School District. Approximately 48 per cent of the district’s students travel on urban and rural routes to schools in Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane and Chestermere. For general inquiries, please contact the Transportation Department at 403-500-2458.
For those students who live out of the eligible area and must instead take Calgary Transit, you will now be able to use Google to plot your bus trips. The City of Calgary has announced a partnership with Google Transit, which allows customers to use Google Maps for trip-planning, with the ability to access detailed bus routes, schedules, transfers and area walking maps. To access this feature, click here and then click on the “Get Directions” link.
For young elementary students who have never been on a school bus, waiting for a bus on their first day can be an overwhelming experience. My First Ride is a free program designed to educate parents and kindergarten children about riding the school bus safely. Public and Catholic kindergarten families are invited to attend.
Sessions consist of a 20-minute PowerPoint presentation on bus safety and a special School Bus Safety DVD presentation for the children. These presentations are followed by a “First Ride” on a bus and conclude with receiving safety handouts, snacks and school board busing information. For more information please review the following poster:

The My First Ride program is made possible through the generous support of Calgary Co-op food stores. Access the presentation below to find out more about the My First Ride program and school bus safety.

Park Safe -School Zone Safety Brochure
This brochure, developed by the Calgary Parking Authority, aims to educate parents and staff about the rules and regulations when parking in the community, including clear guidelines for school zones. It may provide information which could be helpful in resolving some of the congestion and safety issues experienced at schools. Education often makes the difference.
