  • The designated school for Mahogany is Monsignor J.S. Smith (K-9). Please contact the school for additional information.
  • Students who are eligible to attend the new school based upon the boundary decision and who are currently registered at and/or attending the designated Catholic school for their community are automatically registered for the new school.
  • Catholic parents of students who are eligible to attend the new school based upon the boundary decision and who are not currently registered at and/or attending the designated Catholic school for their community are invited to contact Monsignor J.S. Smith School for more information.

Based upon feedback received at the May 29 public consultation meeting and the school administration qualities, attributes and characteristics that was generated as a result of input at this meeting, the district has appointed a principal to the new Catholic school under construction in Mahogany. On December 11, 2017, the Board of Trustees approved the name for the school: Divine Mercy. This name was the most popular in both school and parish surveys. Divine Mercy was recommended by the naming committee comprised of school council representatives, Father Anthoni Paol from St. Albert the Great parish, Trustee Cathie Williams and district personnel.

Boundary articulation
In consideration of growth and enrolment projections for the community of Mahogany, the Calgary Catholic School District is recommending all K-6 students attend the new school in Mahogany and all grade 7-9 students attend Monsignor Smith School. The district hosted a Help Plan Our Future session on May 29, 2017 at St. Marguerite School. The purpose of this meeting was to review the rationale for the boundary decision as well as seek feedback with respect to the district recommendations. Prior to the selection of a principal for a new school, the Calgary Catholic School District consults with Catholic parents in the new school community to consider and articulate the competencies and attributes that the community would require of the school administrative team. Calgary Catholic School District then utilizes these competencies and attributes in the selection of the school-based administrators for the new school.
