Cathie Williams

I was born in Calgary and spent my childhood in many places around Canada due to my dad's position with Canadian Pacific Railway. This experience gave me an appreciation for cultural and geographical diversity. In 1985, my husband and I decided Calgary was where we would establish roots and raise our three sons who all attended and graduated from our schools. My time with CCSD began in 1991 when I became involved with school council. At that time, I was also involved with Scouts Canada, UNESCO and the Calgary Learning Centre where I served as director from 1993–2001. In 2001, I was approached to run in Wards 11 and 12 and am now serving in my fifth term. I have held many positions during my trusteeship, including: Zone 5 representative, Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA) (2001–2002); vice-chair, CCSD (2002–2004); director, ASBA (2003, 2010–2014 and 2018-2020); chair, CCSD (2004–2007); audit committee chair, CCSD; and chief superintendent search chair, CCSD. I have also represented our district on several ASBA and City of Calgary committees in the areas of annexation and future planning, budgets and youth justice. It is an honor and privilege to serve as trustee and to witness and contribute to the gift of a publicly-funded Catholic school district. Education is my passion. And my faith provides me with the belief that we will have a vibrant, growing district for generations to come.
