In determining each research proposal, the following is considered:
  • Research will be of potential value to teaching and learning within the school district.
  • Researchers will abide by the inherent values of a Catholic school system.
  • Research conducted in the Calgary Catholic School District will not unduly interfere with the learning environment.
  • All research studies will respect confidentiality and abide by the conditions set out in the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP).

Application Process

The committee will review completed applications at the end of October, January, March and May. Incomplete applications will not be considered and will be returned. Deadline for applications:

  • October 15
  • January 15
  • March 15
  • May 15

The committee will contact the applicant within a week of the meeting date to indicate the status of the research proposal. There will be a limited number of research projects in any one school during the school year to ensure the integrity of the research process as well as the learning environment.

Please complete each section in order to meet Calgary Catholic School District’s requirements for research.
If the research is part of a university program, you will need to provide a letter from the graduate supervisor or professor indicating that the project is part of a particular course requirement if the research is merely part of an individual course requirement. If the research is part of a thesis for a Masters or Doctoral program, a letter of approval from a university’s ethics approval committee is required.
In addition, the following are required if the researcher requires access to personal information:
