Diploma Preparation Courses

Calgary Catholic is now offering online diploma preparation courses for students who are writing November 2021 diploma exams. Diploma preparation courses are designed to prepare students for diploma examinations. Preparation for these exams include a review of concepts learned in class as well as more comprehensive exams tips, writing skills and strategies. The goal of these courses is to help students be successful at diploma examinations. 

Registration for diploma preparation courses are now open for students writing November 2021 diploma exams. Please review the information listed under the FAQs heading below before registering.

FAQs

How much do diploma preparation courses cost?

Diploma preparation courses are $75/course.

Is registration refundable?

Registration is non-refundable unless the course is cancelled due to low enrolment.

Where do diploma preparation courses take place?

Diploma preparation courses will take place online. Virtual links to independent Google Meets will be shared on each BrightSpace (D2L) diploma preparation course.

How long are diploma preparation courses?

Each course is 12 hours of online-direct teacher instruction and support, split over 4 hour sessions.

How many students are in a diploma prep class?

On average, each course has approximately 20-30 registered students.

Who can register?

Registration is open to all current CCSD and non-CCSD students beginning October 1, 2021. 

Note: Registration for each course closes at noon the day prior to course start date and registration for non-CCSD students may close without notice.

What learning resources are provided?

Students will receive a subject specific course review package.

  • Current CCSD students can pick up their packages two days prior to the start date of their course from their home school.
  • Non-CSSD students can pick up their package from the St. Anne Academic Centre (Monday-Friday between 8:30 a.m. to 4:00p.m.) two days prior to their course start date.

Important first day information

  • Keep your receipt after you finish your registration as it has important information about the start of your class.
  • Approximately 2-3 days prior to the start of your class you will receive an email, to the email account you used during registration, with further course start information.
  • Check BrightSpace (D2L) the morning your course starts as you will see a new course listed specifically for diploma preparation content, communication, and a virtual classroom meeting link.
  • Students must have their own computer, laptop, or Chromebook to properly participate in diploma preparation courses.
