Myra D'Souza

I was raised in a faith-filled home and attended a Catholic girls convent in Pakistan. As a multilingual citizen, I am passionate about preparing students for the international stage. This passion encourages my two children to be global contributors. I hold a bachelor’s degree in political science and psychology, a chartered director’s designation from McMaster University and human resources certification. I have chaired numerous boards and directed many committees, including Calgary’s Urban Aboriginal Initiative, and bring more than 30 years of senior business and leadership experience to our district. My trusteeship began in 2017. During my first term, I have served our district in several capacities, including: vice-chair, CCSD (2018–2019); audit committee chair, CCSD; Zone 5 representative, Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA); second languages caucus member, ASBA; and representative, Teachers’ Employer Bargaining Association. My faith, support of diversity and inclusion and commitment to make the world a better place inspires me. I am a 17-year Corrections Canada volunteer and proud supporter many local and international community service efforts. Some of my volunteer work includes spearheading free busing for our city’s seniors for grocery shopping, representing Canadians’ human rights at the United Nations and starting a library in Nicaragua.
