2020 Opening Mass

On August 28, Calgary Catholic School District trustees, administrators and staff came together virtually to reaffirm and expand their faith in the annual Opening Mass. The Most Reverend Bishop McGrattan presided over the online celebration in the beautiful setting of St. Michael Catholic Community while Board Chair Mary Martin and Chief Superintendent Dr. Bryan Szumlas shared closing remarks of faith, hope and love.

We know this school year presents many challenges and we recognize the unknowns may have you feeling restless, frustrated and apprehensive. As we embrace the difficult times ahead and prepare to reopen our schools, find strength in Bishop McGrattan’s words, “never fail to look at the cross this year; never tire to understand the love that is expressed in that symbol of our faith.”

Now more than ever we need to remember God’s grace is always present and the love of Christ will urge us on. Together, we will overcome the obstacles ahead and help our students find hope, build resilience and have success this year.
