Our teachers are working hard to invite our parents and families into the school lives of their children. Effective communication is critical to the success of children in school. We use a variety of tools to give our families access to their child's learning in meaningful ways and provide our students with innovative and engaging ways of displaying their learning.

Please check our classroom accounts regularly. This is just another way we would like to share with our community the awesome events, thoughts, ideas, actions and education that occurs in our school!

J. Fraser: Monthly Newsletter / Communication Folder/ REMIND APP: Please ensure your child’s folder is brought to school every day and emptied every night. Setting this routine will prepare them for their Elementary years. If you have any questions or last-minute messages (such as who is picking up your child) it is best to leave a note in the folder, as I do not get to emails until the end of the day. I have signed up our class with Remind for ongoing classroom communication. Remind is an app that allows you to receive instant messages, either on your phone, computer, or email, about essential updates in the classroom.

Bloomz \Our primary form of communication in Grade 2H is through Bloomz. All parents are now connected. All updates are posted on Bloomz weekly (Sunday night) on what we are currently learning in the classroom that week (topics and units), important dates for the month, reminders, etc. Students use agendas for simple daily messages that they write (Example: Math quiz Friday.) Parents initial agenda messages nightly to show that they’ve read. Parents also record their reading minutes either in the daily message spot or monthly overview calendar, I check minutes on Friday for them to race their cars around the track for prizes. Blue Folders: Students bring home completed/assessed work in their blue folders so parents can see how their child is doing in the core subjects. This allows parents to assist in areas of difficulty. It also allows them to see how they’re doing so there are no surprises on progress reports regarding grades. Students return blue folders the following day are sent home. Yellow Folders: Are sent home with study guides that students complete themselves as we end our units. Students return them on the day of the assessment.
