Dear Families,

I am very excited to introduce myself to you as the Principal of Blessed Marie-Rose School and look forward to the journey that lies ahead in working collaboratively to create a vibrant school community that all students, parents and staff members will be proud of.

The Calgary Catholic School District has been a big part of my family’s life. My wife Heather is also a teacher within the Calgary Catholic School District and all three of our children: Isabella (University of Calgary), Samuel (Gr.7) and Sophia (Gr.5) currently attend or have attended CCSD schools. I was a graduate of St. Francis High School and attended St. Alphonsus School for my K-9 school years. Heather and I enjoy watching our children’s activities and help coach or assist with these as time permits.

I come to our school community with 22 years of experience as a teacher and administrator. I have enjoyed the challenge of opening a new school and working together in the development of the vision of the school, culture, traditions, and programming. Being a father, I can certainly appreciate how unique each and every child is. During their time with us, our sincere hope is that students will continually discover who they are and that their values, uniqueness, work ethic, and resiliency will shape who they become. In working closely with students, parents, staff, and District personnel, we wish to foster a team approach with always keeping in mind ‘what is best for students”. We will create a culture where students are encouraged to take risks in their learning and share their ideas and opinions in a respectful manner with their peers and teachers. We want to encourage and remind all stakeholders to always be kind, empathetic and to use the greatest skill needed in building positive relationships – the art of listening.Through our commitment to the students, staff, parents and the community we will build a school that excels spiritually, academically, athletically and artistically.

For new and returning families, I want to assure you that we will do our best in making the transition into the 2019-2020 school year a smooth one for both students and parents. We will ensure that we will create an authentic learning environment that celebrates each student’s unique gifts and maintains all learning plans for support and enrichment.
