We are in the midst of preparation for Bishop O'Byrne's 2019 Grade 12 Graduation. The following information outlines the upcoming activities and important dates. Information will be updated as it is made available.
If your student missed their opportunity to have their graduation photo taken while photographers were at Bishop O’Byrne, please contact Platinum Photography directly by phone 403-520-5252 or by email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Students who do not wish to purchase a package are asked to drop by Bobcat 1 on the above dates for a quick photo (no sitting fee), as these photos are used for the yearbook and wall composite. Proof delivery will occur at the school at the end of March.
Final order days for Jostens in-school are Monday, February 25th and Tuesday, March 5th. Catalogues can be picked up in the main office. You can also go online to design/order at www.jostens.com or call 403-252-1774.
Each year Grade 12 students in good academic standing are invited to participate in the Bishop O’Byrne Valedictorian Competition. As a result of the competition, students are chosen not just for the role of valedictorian, but also for other graduation duties such as Master of Ceremonies and presenting toasts at the banquet. More information regarding the application process will be provided at the end of February.
A fee will be charged to cover the cost of items such as gown and stole rental, facility rental, diplomas, diploma covers, programs, printing and postage costs. When this year's fee has been added to the graduates accounts, an invoice will be sent out. All outstanding fees, including the Grad Fee, must be paid in full online or at the Business Office. Students will not be permitted to purchase tickets to the Graduation Banquet and Dance if there are any unpaid fees. Any concerns can be forwarded to the Business Office at 403-500-2103 ext. 313.
A preliminary Graduation List will be posted outside Student Services on March 20th. This list indicates which students have completed the required courses and are currently registered in the correct/required courses for Semester 2 to meet the minimum Graduation requirements for Bishop O’Byrne High School. Counselors will contact parents of students who do not meet the Graduation requirements at this time. On April 20th, a second Graduation List will be posted. The Final Graduation List will be posted outside Student Services on May 8th. To be on this list, students must be half way through any online courses and have at least 50% in all courses required to graduate. Students not on the list may enter an appeal. Appeals will be heard by Ms. Verontaye, by appointment only. Appeals will be heard only on specified dates. Students who are not on the final Graduation List will not be eligible to “walk the stage”. This is a firm deadline and will be strictly adhered to, as a number of items, such as gowns and stoles, programs for the Convocation all depend on final numbers.
