Principal - Mr. Joe Gillis
I am extremely honored and thrilled to be a part of the Holy Child family. My core belief as a principal, teacher, and father of four is that the absolute best in Catholic education will happen when we work in partnership – parents, teachers, administration and students under the guiding teachings of the Church and our Gospel values. My goal is to create an environment of respect, kindness, and caring, as well as having fun, as we journey together in teaching and learning excellence. As a teacher and administrator I have had the opportunity to work in Nova Scotia, northern Manitoba and, for the past 20 years, with the Calgary Catholic School District. Although my background is in elementary education I have taught and worked in both elementary and junior high schools throughout my career. When I have spare time my family and I usually spend it camping, hiking, backpacking or biking. Our best summers are always spent back in Nova Scotia with family.
I look forward to working with everyone who is part of the Holy Child family as we grow together to be the very best school for each and every one of our students.

I am a proud mom of two boys, Everett and Oliver. My oldest son, Everett, is in grade 7 this year! My younger son, Oliver, is in grade 5 this year. As a family we spend time with our beloved dog, Gus. We have a busy schedule running to and from sports and music lessons during the year. One of our favourite activities to do together as a family is play board games. Ticket to Ride is a popular game in our house. I rarely win! I am a big baseball fan and when I when I am not cheering for my sons’ baseball teams you will find me cheering on the Toronto Blue Jays.
My hope for you this year is that you enjoy learning, that you try your best, and that you are proud of what you do.
