High School registration can be an exciting but stressful time for many students and their parents. As the counsellor here at Holy Child, part of my job is to guide students and their families through this process in the hopes of alleviating some of this stress and to ensure our students are set up for a smooth and successful transition into high school. In the coming month, each student will receive a copy of the Footprints to Your Future booklet which clearly maps out the requirements, expectations and program information needed to help students and their families navigate the high school registration process. I will be going through this resource very carefully with all grade 9 students during Health classes, as well as help each student register for their high school courses when the portal opens in this Spring.

All Saints High School is our designated high school, however if your son or daughter is interested in pursuing a special program that is not offered at All Saints, this of course is available to them. An example of this would be if they are interested in pursuing the International Baccalaureate program at Bishop O’Byrne. Please note that I am only permitted to register students outside of their designated schools if they are enrolling in specialized programming that is not offered at All Saints. I can also not help students register for CBE high schools, as I do not have access to their portals or systems to do so.

I would also strongly encourage families to attend any open houses for high schools they are interested in attending, as it gives you the opportunity to tour the school, meet some of the staff and get a real feel for the school. These open houses can be very eye opening and help to alleviate any questions or concerns that you may be having.

See below for upcoming dates and times for high school open house times.
