Design Studies 10

This course focuses on 3D design and basic drafting techniques. Students will use both Autodesk Inventor & Revit to develop 3D modelling techniques while designing a 3D multileveled house, mechanical models that may be printed in the 3D printer, and producing their corresponding technical drawings. Students continuing in Design Studies will choose to specialize in either Inventor or Revit while working towards a concentration in architectural, mechanical, or interior design.

Design Studies 20

Students choose to concentrate on either mechanical or architectural modeling using Autodesk Inventor or Revit. Students choosing the mechanical stream learn how to work with assemblies while modeling complex lego kits, then work towards modeling real world robotic components, testing them via our 3D printer. Students choosing the architectural pathway will be given a real life case scenario based on either creating a new residential project or renovating an existing structure. Students may then choose to compete with other Calgary high schools for post-secondary scholarships in a competition hosted by the Calgary Homebuilders Association.

Design 30 is an advanced level course where students will apply the techniques learned from the previous levels to solve more complex design problems regarding architectural and mechanical 3D design. The student will focus on large scale commercial projects while taking into consideration structural and material composition. Students will continue along their mechanical or architectural pathway using either Autodesk Inventor or Revit.
