Sports Performance 10

This course will concentrate on the development of both the physical and mental conditioning of student athletes. The course will consist of an advanced fitness-training component as well as sport specific drills used to improve skill development. Classroom instruction will also be provided and will focus on the area of developing leadership and learning while studying the traits of outstanding athletes. (3 credits)

Note: Students may enroll in only one of Hockey Sports Performance, Sports Performance, or Sports Performance Girls.

Sports Performance 10 - Girls

This course will concentrate on the physical and mental development of female athletes. This course will cover in depth training principles that are tailored to female athletes and will include conditioning, weight training, and sport specific drills. The classroom component of the course will focus on understanding the importance of mental fitness in sports as well as sport specific nutrition principles specifically focused on female athletes. Student athletes taking this course should be serious about fitness training, prepared for strenuous physical activity in each class, and passionate about learning how to successfully develop into a well-rounded female athlete.(3 credits)

Sports Performance 20

This course will concentrate on the development of both the physical and mental conditioning of student athletes. The course will consist of an advanced fitness training component as well as sport specific drills used to improve skill development. Classroom instruction will also be provided and will focus on the areas of developing leadership and learning while studying the traits of outstanding athletes. It is of the utmost importance that only the serious student athlete registers for the class as it will be extremely strenuous in nature. This course is not available to those students enrolled in the hockey skills program. A tour of the Sports Medicine facility at MRU will occur and a sports massage will be included.
