Division 2 teachers (Grades 4-6):
Jessica Kangas: Division 2 teacher
I am so blessed to be a part of the Prince of Peace community! I am a born and raised Calgary girl, and a graduate of CSSD myself. I am just beginning my teaching career, and I love every minute of it so far! My favourite thing about teaching is getting to know what makes each of my students special. When I am not teaching I use my free time to travel, and have been lucky to visit many wonderful places. I also enjoy reading, photography, exercise, coffee and being outside. I am excited to see what this year has in store for us!
Christine Murphy: Division 2 Teacher
Go Spartan’s Go! I am so excited to be back with the Prince of Peace team. I have been with CSSD since I was 4 years old, with 11 years of teaching in our district. Teaching is my vocation, my passion, and where I find much happiness in my life. The daily challenges of connecting with students in a meaningful way excites my imagination and opens my heart to many intense learning situations. In my home life I have a loving husband and 3 beautiful girls who keep me very entertained (and busy.) There is never a dull moment in my life both at work and home. I can’t wait for another fun school year to begin.
Sarah Vessey: Division 2 teacher
I am excited to be a part of the Prince of Peace school
community! I have been teaching for eleven years and enjoy working with children to help them reach their full potential. Making learning fun and engaging for my
students has always been my passion. I love using technology and hands-on
experiences to help motivate my students. When I am not teaching, I am a mom to
a busy four year old little boy and enjoy spending as much time as I can with
him. I also love to travel and have been
fortunate to travel to many amazing destinations. I look forward to getting to know all of you
this school year.
Cindy Jarvis: Division 2 teacher
I am so excited to be a part of the Prince of Peace School community!I am looking forward to working with a wonderful grade 5 team, and getting to know the students. For me, the most rewarding part of teaching is watching all the precious children learn, grow, and develop into their best versions of themselves. Being a part of their journey is truly a blessing and an honor. When I am not working, I am love spending time with my husband and our 3 amazing daughters! In my spare time and during holidays I can be found reading, walking, hiking, camping, and creating memories with my family and friends.
Breanne McLachlan: Division 2 teacher
I am so excited to be back with the Prince of Peace family! I was
born and raised in Calgary and grew up attending Catholic school through all of
my 13 years. This will be my third consecutive year teaching Grade 5 and have
found that I am most passionate about teaching Art and Math. I like
to plan interactive lessons and utilize technology as much
as possible in the classroom. In my spare time I enjoy traveling,
baking, reading, painting, and spending time with my family and dog. I look
forward to working with the “Spartan” community again this year!
Jennifer Pyper: Division 2 teacher
We welcome back for Fall 2019 Mrs. Pyper from her maternity leave.
I am incredibly excited to be a Prince of Peace Spartan! I cannot wait to meet all of our families and begin to cultivate our school community together! Having contributed to opening St. Isabella School in 2013, I am very passionate about creating a welcoming place for children where they are excited to learn and feel safe in the development of that learning. Together with my husband Sean, we love to travel and stay active walking our 4 year old dog Kipper!
Linda Corbo-Schmaltz - Division 2 teacher
Hi, I am Linda
Corbo-Schmaltz. I grew up in Edmonton but moved to Calgary to begin
my teaching career almost 20 years ago, and while I have taught all
grades and many subjects, grade 5 is one of my favourites. I have an amazing husband and 3 wonderful children: 2
daughters ages 12 & 9 and a 7 ½ year old son, 2
puppies, a bunny, 3 birds & a fish. I love sunshine, crafty
stuff, and books.
I am so excited to be joining the Prince of Peace
family as a grade 5 teacher! I feel extremely lucky to do a job
I am passionate about! I look forward to meeting
to an exciting and fun year of learning!
Jennifer Braun: Division 2 teacher
I am very excited to be part of the teaching team at Prince
of Peace! I have been teaching with the district since 2002. During this time I
have taught mostly Grades 3, 5, and 6. As a classroom teacher, I strive to
impart knowledge onto my students, but also provide limitless guidance. In
doing so, I always give my students the motivation and confidence that is
needed for them to believe they can succeed! Aside from teaching, one of my
passions is traveling. Two of my biggest trips have been to China and India. I
have many more destinations on my list that I would like to go explore! I also
enjoy photography, skiing, and spending time with my family and friends.
Nadine Bobbett: Division 2 teacher
I am extremely happy to be a part of the Prince of Peace
team. I am coming to Prince of Prince from St. Damien school where I have
taught grades 4 and 5. I am originally from Nova Scotia and have taught there,
as well as in Ontario. I have two young boys that keep me active in everything
sports related. On my free time I love to read, travel, and play soccer. I’m
passionate about teaching and can’t wait to challenge my students in fun and
engaging ways throughout the year.
Laura Carrier: Division 2 teacher
Helping open Prince of Peace last year was such a joy! I was and continue to be honoured being part of this amazing school and community. I have taught grade three for four years, and looking forward to teaching Grade 6 this year! I also taught preschool for five years while completing my schooling at St. Mary’s University. My favourite thing about teaching is creating lasting relationships with each of my students. I love them all so dearly and can't wait to meet my new group of kiddos! In my spare time I enjoy baking, art, hiking, surfing, spending time with my dog and family and travelling. I am looking forward to another year at POP! Go Spartans Go!
Jennifer Fero: Division 2 Teacher
I couldn’t be happier to be part of the Spartan family. I bring with me passion and experience which includes many years teaching grade 6. I look forward to inspiring and being inspired by the students, staff and families at POP.
When I am not at school, you will find me running with my dog, doing yoga or with my husband cheering on our two kids at a rink or ball diamond. My home-away-from-home is in the Columbia Valley where I love to hike and golf.
