Dear Parents and/or Guardians of Junior High Students

Below please find the criteria that will be used to determine the 2018/19 year end student awards. For the purpose of determining all the awards, student averages will be calculated as of June 14, 2019 and will require that there are no outstanding assignments or exams as of that date.

  • Honors. A certificate will be presented to those students in each grade level who achieve an overall average of 80% or better and have no mark less than 75% in each of their courses.
  • Honors with Distinction. A certificate will be presented to those students in each grade level who achieve an overall average of 90% or better and have no mark less than 80% in each of their courses.
  • Individual Subject Awards. A certificate will be presented to the individual student in each Junior High grade with the highest average in the course. Courses include: LA, Social, Math, Science, Phys. Ed, French, Drama, Art, Band, CTF (Construction and Foods/Fashion) and Comm. Tech. For Religion student awards will be given to an individual student in each homeroom.
  • Highest Academic Achievement - Awarded to an individual student at each Grade level who attains the highest overall academic average for all course subject areas. Award recipients will have their name inscribed on the school plaque and receive a personal plaque to keep.
  • Outstanding Athletic Achievement – Awarded to both a male and female student at each Grade level who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, athleticism, sportsmanship and commitment throughout the year. Award winners will have their name inscribed on the school plaque and receive a personal plaque to keep.
  • Outstanding Personal Achievement - Awarded to an individual student at each Grade level who has demonstrated improvement in a variety of areas in order to promote their own personal growth. Criteria for the award includes the qualities of perseverance, commitment, dedication and hard work. Award winners will have their name inscribed on the school plaque and receive a personal plaque to keep.
  • Bruin Citizenship Award - Awarded to an individual student at each Grade level who through their actions exemplify Catholic Spirit, contribute to the school community and encourage others to become actively involved in school life. Award recipients will have their name inscribed on the school plaque and receive a personal plaque to keep.
  • Bruin Pride Award - Awarded to an individual student at each Grade level who best demonstrate the five characteristics of the award: Positivity, Respect, Integrity, Determination and Empathy. Award winners will have their name inscribed on the school plaque and receive a personal plaque to keep.
