Art and Language Arts
The grade 4 students have been exploring painting from nature in Art.They have enjoyed investigating, sketching and painting various cherry blossom branches.
Students were then invited to use their paintings as inspiration for a Language Arts unit in poetry. We read Jon J. Muth’s book, ‘Hi, Koo!’.The book features several Haiku poems. The grade 4 students are writing their own Haikus and will then explore writing a variety of forms of poetry.
The students have been deepening their faith through prayer and learning about Jesus.Students painted crosses and wrote prayers connecting to the liturgical calendar.
Students are looking forward to inquiry-based learning in the Science ‘Building Devices that Move’ unit.Students will be participating in a design challenge using primarily recycled materials and their knowledge from their ‘Wheels and Levers’ unit.
The grade 4’s have many exciting learning opportunities to look forward to.We are excited for a Science-based field-trip and continuing to make progress in our personal monthly learning goals.
