In our program the student will be responsible for setting goals
and completing work on their own. Students should be able to work independently
for the most part, with the teacher’s assistance one-on-one or in small groups.
Students are expected to contribute to the positive nature of
the program by acting in a mature and respectful manner. The atmosphere is
suitable for motivated, independent people who want to further themselves by taking
advantage of educational opportunities that the program offers them.
Fresh Start is open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily,
with individual progress interview days occurring once every month. Students
are expected to come in for this scheduled half hour progress interview with Fresh Start staff at that time.
It is also the expectation that our students maintain regular
attendance – at least 15-20 hours each week. Hours can be flexible within the
school day, particularly in the case of off-site work experience or a part time
Communication and Reporting
Communication between students, teachers and parents is a key
factor to success at school. Teacher will maintain regular contact with
parents. Parents are encouraged to call or make appointments as needed.
Individual interviews are held at the end of each month to discuss the
student’s progress and any concerns the staff or student may have regarding
their program. Progress reports are sent home in November, February and
the end of May.
$20 Registration Fee is waived for Fresh Start students
