During March, our junior high dancers benefitted from the expertise of a guest dance artist in residence, Amy Badry, who has been a teacher at Pulse Studios since 2014. She has a Minor of Dance from the University of Calgary and has spent time in New York City- the birthplace of hip hop- to learn about the foundations of Hip hop dance and culture. There she attended the Ladies of Hip Hop Festival and Street Style Lab. Amy is also part of the Fresh Face Crew. Students learned about the culture, terminology, music, and many fundamental movements of Hip hop dance. They also mastered several Hip hop combinations from different time periods (for instance, the 1990’s versus today’s current styles). Most of all, our dancers had a blast!
