2017-18 Calgary Transit Pass Rebate form – is now available Transportation Rebate Form

Frequently Asked Questions:

*Who is eligible for a Transit Pass Rebate?

Grade 7 to Grade 12 students who reside within the City of Calgary and who live more than 2.4 km away from their designated school.

Note: Due to the Alberta Government’s recent Bill 1, the district’s eligibility guidelines may change prior to the start of the 2017-18 school year. Schools and parents will be advised of any forthcoming decisions made that involve changes to current practice, prior to the end of this school year. Information will also be posted to the district’s website.

Why must a new form be completed every school year?

These forms must be completed and submitted every school year as banking information is not retained by the District for more than one school year.

What happens if a student scans a Transit Pass but the District doesn’t have the Rebate form yet?

The scan is still valid and the rebate(s) will be applied on next scheduled rebate day after a rebate form is received by Accounting. What this means is if a student scans September through December without submitting a form, then in January they submit the form when scanning their pass (before that month’s cut-off date) the rebates for September through January will be deposited at the end of January.

When the student scans the come up as ineligible, or eligible, or eligibility undetermined when they shouldn’t, what’s wrong?

This is because the student’s Physical Address has changed or is incorrect. A student’s rebate eligibility is determined by their Physical Address so any issues with that address directly affect their eligibility. The process is not automatic so Transportation should be informed if a student has moved to a new address that will change their eligibility.

Can a student receive a Transit Pass Rebate if they are being transported on a “yellow bus” by the District?

No. If a student is already receiving one form of district transportation (i.e. yellow bus or cab), they are not eligible for the Transit Pass Rebate.
