All Grade 9 students should now have a copy of Footprints to Your Future 2020. This is a useful guide that provides a general overview of high school programming, including information regarding high school streaming, diploma requirements, open house dates and attendance (boundary) areas.

Please be aware that all students have a designated high school that is based on the physical location of their home. There are strict guidelines for high school boundaries that dictate where your son/daughter can attend. In order to attend a non-designated school, the student must apply (and be accepted) into one of our specialized programs. These programs are also discussed in the Footprints booklet.

High schools will continue to offer open house nights late January and early February. Please see page 8/9 of the Footprints booklet, as well as the listed dates below pertaining to open houses. All families are encouraged to attend the open houses for the schools that their son/daughter will be applying to. Also, please monitor high school websites for updates.

The Process…in a nutshell (more information to come).

Please be aware that we will begin the initial stages of the registration process in late December. We finalize this process in March. Late January and all of February are the crucial times for completing special program applications, as well as regular program course selections. Registration packages will be provided to the students in January. Deadlines for special program applications will be provided in January.

All information about registering will be communicated via parent emails/newsletters, our St. Bonaventure website and Bright Space, as well as directly to students during class time.

High school registration is a process that is completed at a student’s junior high school with their junior high school counsellor. Parents cannot register their son/daughter directly with the high schools.

Please note that even if your child is applying to a public/private school, we ask that they also apply to a CSSD school (simply as a safeguard). Registering at any school outside of CSSD is the sole responsibility of the parent and student. Our CSSD counsellors do not have access to registration packages/applications for public/private high schools.
