*** COVID-19 & Athletics ***

"CCSD is working with Alberta Education, Alberta Health and education partners, including the Alberta Schools' Athletic Association, to explore possibilities for athletic activities and events within the context of current health measures. Athletic events are suspended in September and will be reviewed on an ongoing basis," - CCSD

Welcome to St. Brigid's Athletics!

The Athletics Programs will start differently this year. Students will be updated as we progress through the year. As with most things COVID-19 related, Athletics will be changing on a regular basis. As a school community, we know Athletics are an important part of St. Brigid School culture. We are hoping for the best, while ensuring every student as St. Brigid remains safe and healthy.

For students and staff in our school promoting school spirit and pride is an important way for students to feel connected to their school. One way this is accomplished is by participating in athletics. All students in grade 7-9 are encouraged to try out for a sports team.

Athletics showcase skills developed by students in schools. Students also learn important social and life skills when they are part of a group. Goal setting, time management, and coping with different types of stress associated with competition are just a few of the skills learned.

To provide structure and organization for athletes and to maintain fair, ethical practices in a competitive environment, schools in our district are members of the Calgary Catholic Junior High School Athletic Association (CCJHSAA).
