Art at Saint Francis is an integrated, sequential program with common goals that follow the Art 10, 20 and 30 curriculum. The focus is on drawing and mark-making, visual composition, and encounters with Art objects and Art history.

The following process areas are offered:

  • Drawing - students explore a range of media and mark-making techniques and styles.
  • Painting - studies in water colour, acrylic, gauche and mixed media and collage.
  • Printmaking - relief printmaking, wood and linocut and etching techniques.
  • Sculpture - paper/plaster construction, wire construction, and mixed media.
  • Ceramics - electric Skutt kiln, extruder, and a slab roller. Hand building techniques, coil and slab construction and 6 potters wheels.

  • Art students are introduced to various projects in all media areas, but are encouraged to explore their own personal style. Students heading to Art College work on portfolio development and the creation of an Artist Personal Statement and Digital Portfolio.
