The Learning Commons endeavours to assist students and staff in their pursuit of life-long learning and in the enjoyment of leisure and informational reading. The Learning Commons is a designated area for research, study, leisure reading, clubs and a place to connect with friends. It offers a wide selection of books, eBooks, videos, and online resources. A full computer lab which includes internet access and a number of software programs is also available, as is audio visual equipment such as camcorders, digital cameras, LCD projectors are available for students.

Current VID’s with spare stickers must be on hand to sign out Learning Commons material. By necessity the Learning Commons is a designated quiet place. If disrespectful or defiant behavior occurs suspension from the Learning Commons will be enforced.

The U-Learn program for the students is also located in the Learning Commons.

The Resource Management System allows you to login to your home school library using your district username and password and provides access to learning resources at all schools and the Instructional Materials Centre (IMC). You can now search and view items from both your own school library and the district IMC at one time. Use your school library catalogue to search and request IMC resources.

Circulation Procedures: Students must have their Visible ID’s on to borrow materials and have no overdue materials. They may borrow 6 items at any one time, 1 of which may be reference.

  • Fiction and Non-fiction: 3 weeks (with some restrictions, depending on usage)
  • Reference: Overnight (there are some items that must be used in the library only)
  • Audiovisual Equipment: Overnight
