Background

We are a French Immersion elementary school of the Calgary Roman Catholic School District, and serve over 20 communities in the Southwest quadrant of the Calgary Area.

In partnership with home and the Church, St. Gérard is dedicated to providing excellence in education by developing faith-centered individuals able to contribute positively to society. Our core purpose is to offer a quality Catholic, French Immersion program for students in Kindergarten through Grade 6.

We strongly encourage parental involvement and have many volunteering opportunities at the school. Program highlights for the school year include:

  • SMART boards in each classroom and computer lab
  • A networked, state-of-the-art computer lab and computers in every classroom
  • Class and school social justice activities
  • Advent Celebrations
  • Christmas Concert
  • Spring Concert
  • Student-led clubs
  • Skiing/snowboarding, in-line skating, hip hop, tennis and swim programs (subject to change)
  • Library Connections bilingual reading program
  • Cabane à Sucre
  • A lunch room
  • Winter Carnival and Play Days
  • Hot lunch program on Mondays and Simple Simon hot pies also available
  • Family Nights such as Harvest Dance, Spring Dance, A Taste of Quebec
  • Family Picnic
  • Parent in-services
  • Active School Council
  • Recycling program
  • Sponsorship of two foster children (one in Malawi and one in Peru)
  • We are the recipients (for the second year) of a $10,000 grant from BP and A+ Energy Program: “Every Step Counts: We Can Make a Difference”
