Registration Process

The process for all children who would like to go through Sacramental preparation at Ascension Catholic Parish is to register for Sacraments at the Parish (online registration is available on our Parish website). All immediate preparation for Sacraments is held at the Parish for all 8 Catholic schools within the Parish boundaries: Ascension of Our Lord, Blessed Marie-Rose, Our Lady of Grace, Monsignor Neville Anderson,St. Bede, St. Clare, St. Elizabeth Seton, and St. Jerome, as well as children who attend other schools, be it Catholic or non-Catholic, who are parishioners of Ascension Catholic Parish.

Students who attend the above Catholic schools have the option to go through Sacramental preparation at a Parish of their choosing. Ascension Catholic Parish offers students in Grade 2 and up the Sacrament of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, and students in Grade 6 and up the Sacrament of Confirmation. The families can choose for their children to go through Sacramental preparation at their home Parish if Ascension Catholic Parish is not their home Parish or through Ascension with their classmates.

Registration 2020/2021

  • Registration for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion will be open starting on August 1, 2020.
  • The first letter about the First Reconciliation & Holy Communion will be sent to the Grade 1 students in June 2020, and when these students start Grade 2 in September 2020, they will receive a similar letter to register for the Sacraments.

If a child has missed any sacraments and may need to complete more than one:

  • First, check the Parish website (www.ascensionparish.ca) and find more information on the Sacrament pages (e.g. Baptism, First Reconciliation and Holy Communion, or Confirmation).
  • Then, check the Parish bulletin, which can also be found on our Parish website. Finally, if they still need more information, contact the Parish office for the respective Coordinators.

Vicki Hayles, Youth Coordinator and school Liaison: youth@ascensionparish.ca

There are programs to help every student to receive their Sacraments from grade 2 to grade 12. The programs will be starting at various times, but all information will be available in September. Ascension will do their best to accommodate each child and their individual needs.
