The Calgary Catholic School District offers Kindergarten programming within a faith-based learning environment. St. John XXIII currently has two morning classes. Young children are proven to benefit from programs that provide opportunities for organized activities and purposeful play through which they can explore the world around them. The Kindergarten program focuses on seven areas of learning, including early literacy; early numeracy; citizenship and identity; environment and community awareness; personal and social responsibility; physical skills and well-being; and creative expression.
All Calgary Catholic Elementary Schools offer half-day Kindergarten programs. Please see the District Website for schools that offer these programs.
registrations fall under two categories:
1) Kindergarten registration for the 2019-2020 School Year: A child who
turned four years old on or before March 1, 2019 is eligible to attend
kindergarten for the 2019-2020 school year.
2) Kindergarten Registration for the 2020-2021 School
: As stated in the Education Act, the kindergarten entry age has
changed for the 2020-2021 school year and onward; children
must turn 5
years on or before December 31, 2020.
