Learning Commons Library Information

Hours: Open 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM; Closed for recess and lunch.

Saint Maria Goretti Learning Commons is the perfect place for reading, conducting research and for completing assignments. Students, teachers, and visitors often use the LC as a study area outside of their scheduled class times. All users are asked to behave in a respectful manner.

Makey Makey PianoWith the addition of our Makerspace, the Learning Commons is an environment that invites exploration and creativity both virtually and physically. Makerspaces teach students to think for themselves, to think creatively and look for a “do it yourself” solution.

Each homeroom has a scheduled 30-minute class once in the six-day cycle. All students have access to our collection of library books, chrome books and iPads, and interesting and educational programing.

Borrowing Policies:
- Kindergarten and Grade 1 - one book
- Grade 2 - two books
- Grade 3, 4, 5, and 6 - three books
Books are to be returned the following library class, but may be renewed.

Overdue Materials:
Every effort will be made to have students return their library books on time and overdue fines will not be collected. However, if a student has ongoing overdue books they will not be permitted to borrow again until all materials are returned to the library.

Damaged and Lost Books:
Students are responsible for the replacement cost of materials lost or damaged. This includes textbooks. A letter will be sent home providing more information if necessary.

Please feel welcome to visit the Learning Commons anytime you are in the school.
