We encourage our parents to participate in the school community to whatever degree they choose. Opportunities exist in the school for parents to volunteer in a number of capacities. Parents who are interested in volunteering are asked to contact the school’s principal as well as consult the district’s volunteer handbook.
St. Maria Goretti School Volunteers
We welcome parent volunteers at St. Maria Goretti School and appreciate their help and time.
Volunteers must sign a volunteering agreement which outlines “Freedom of Information” details and confidentiality concerns. This form is to be signed annually and is kept on file for the year.
We hold a “Volunteer Orientation Session” in September, usually just prior to our first School Council Meeting. The Volunteer Agreement sheet can be signed at this meeting, and Volunteer Handbooks will be handed out. If you have already attended a session last year, there is no need to attend another. Volunteering in the classrooms will begin in October, after teachers had a chance to establish routines and expectations.
Thank you Volunteers
Volunteer Appreciation Tea
Each year we invite any individuals who volunteered their time at St. Maria Goretti School to our “Volunteer Appreciation Tea”. The Grade 6 Leadership Group provides babysitting during the event.
The Tea is held in the Learning Commons. Our staff decorates the Learning Commons to make it festive. Each year we choose a different theme to make it fun for our capable volunteers.
We hope you will enjoy the delicious food prepared by our staff and fun conversations!
