Next Meeting: Wednesday, March 4 @5:30pm

March 4 Agenda

School councils provide an opportunity for parents, school administration, teachers, community members and students to work together towards achieving a more vibrant and effective school community. All parents with children attending school are members of their local school council and are encouraged to participate in council activities.

School councils, which are advisory to the principal, create a community spirit that makes a school more than just a school. They create a learning environment where students feel the commitment of their principal, teachers and parents working toward a common goal: creating teaching and learning environments where students reach their potential and achieve at the highest levels in all areas of learning.

Some examples of school council involvement include building community through events and public relations, providing input on District-wide and Province-wide initiatives, lobbying for Catholic education, and providing financial assistance.

School council is not intended to take on the role of teachers and administration, but to act in an advisory role to them. Any issues that are related to specific teachers and students need to be addressed with school administration, or with the teachers themselves.

If you have questions for your School Council or have an item you wish to bring forth to the Council, please communicate via email TWO WEEKS PRIOR to the date of the next meeting at: stmartha@schoolcouncil.cssd.ab.ca
