The Diverse Learning Centre at St. Mary’s High School is an inclusive environment of support. Diverse Learning takes many forms and through the collaborative efforts of its teachers, classes and educational assistants support is provided.
During the school day you will find students advocating for their needs. For example students attend tutorials to discuss with teachers and peers content related to assessment and evaluation. Identified students also access the Diverse Learning Centre to complete assignments, quizzes and exams, and to use assistive technology in response to their disabilities. Students often receive clarification and review from teachers and educational assistants as they use additional time and the alternate learning environment based on their needs and accommodations. Our Writing Centre also provides students a supervised opportunity to write and rewrite missed assignments and evaluations for various reasons.
In response to diverse learning needs at St. Mary’s High School all teachers work toward the same purpose, to support teaching and learning so that all students may do the best that they can.
