E.S.L. Level 2

The E.S.L. Level 2 five credit course is primarily designed to assist students who have a beginner level of English. The focus of this course is to help students develop basic communication skills in spoken and written English. Students work toward developing English listening, speaking, reading and writing skills within the context of literature, content-based and daily life related materials.

E.S.L. Level 3

The E.S.L. Level 3 five credit course is primarily designed for students who have basic English language competency. This course emphasizes language development for academic learning and vocabulary development. Students receive instruction and practice in the language skills necessary to further their learning in a variety of areas.

E.S.L. Level 4

The E.S.L. Level 4 five credit course is primarily designed for students who can comprehend some instruction in senior high courses but require support in areas including reading strategies, writing skills, vocabulary development and background knowledge. This course emphasizes language development for academic learning. Support with integrated course material is offered upon student request.

Advanced E.S.L. Program Support

Advanced E.S.L. support is offered for Level 4-5 students not currently enrolled in E.S.L. courses. This support is offered Period 1 and Period 4, and during ILO. Advanced E.S.L. students are encouraged to contact Mr. Ms. Hayden for individual assistance with their subject area assignments.
